Hello Everyone!
I wanted to share some great news! We are no longer seeing the bug that caused the Jump-to-next-scene triggers on slide masters to stop working.
Please make sure that you are using the current version of Storyline 360 (Build 3.77.30568.0). This guide walks you through installing, updating, and opening Articulate 360 apps.
Please let us know if you're still encountering the issue and we'd be happy to continue troubleshooting with you in a support case.

Hi Alex. After testing and then doing a little research, it appears that this issue is known to our QA team. I'm really sorry about that. I'm going to add your discussion to their report, and we'll be able to keep you updated on the progress of that bug.
I noticed the "jump to previous scene" was functional. The workaround at this point is instead of saying "next scene," to say, "scene 2" or whichever scene you'd like them to visit next. What you could do is create a master layout for each scene so that the "master trigger" will be accurate for each scene.
I've attached an example project where I have the "jump to scene x" buttons on scenes 1 and 2. In scene 3, I've included "jump to previous scene," which will bring the learner to the last scene visited, and I've included a "jump to scene 1" to jump to a specific scene. I created a master layout for scene 1 jump button and for scene 2 jump button.
Take a look and see if that's something that would work for your course.
Thanks Crystal!
You work around is good idea, but I just created a button in each "last slide" of each scene and it works for now.
I hope you guy can fix this.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for sharing what worked for you! We'll keep you posted.
Hello,
I have the same issue.
I'm using masters and created 2 (jump to nextSlide and jump to nextScene) nextScene doesn't work and I find your workaround a bit confusing. I'm going to have a lot of scenes, and creating a master for each one is not functional at all.
Is there any news about this? I'm using SL2.
Thanks
Hi Daniela!
If you are asking for an update on the QA issue, then I do not have one to share at this time.
Is there any update available? The workaround to add the trigger to the final slide works but it's a bit annoying as that's surely the main purpose of using a slide master?
Thanks
Hello Joe - Nothing new yet, but thanks for following up with us. It is helpful to understand how many folks are experiencing this bug and how often they encounter it. I will update the report so that we can discuss this internally again as we are trying to better prioritize for customers.
Thanks Leslie. Is there a published list of known issues/bugs in SL2? Just starting out having spent several years using a different development tool, and I only found this one after some extensive Google searching. Thanks.
Hey Joe - We do not have a customer facing list at this time. It is something we have discussed internally previously, but no decision has been made. What we have committed to doing, as I mentioned above, is better prioritizing and advocating for our customers.
This hasn't been fixed in Storyline 3 either ....
Hi David!
Thanks for reaching out and sharing. I have upgraded one of our previous examples to SL3 and I see the similar behavior. I will get this reported to our team as well and attach this thread and my sample file for reference.
There also appears to be a similar issue with 360.
Hey John,
You're right -- we're seeing this problem in Storyline 360, as well. I'm sorry you ran into it! We'll keep you posted if anything changes. Thanks for chiming in!
Hi, I jump to the named scene (not "nextscene" default system name) and still having this issue!
Hi Irina!
Sorry this affecting your projects too! I don't have any new updates to share on this bug where the "Jump to Next Scene" trigger isn't working in Slide Masters. When I have more information I'll report back!
I'd just like to flag this issue is still present.
I use a trick where I have two triggers on my next slide button:
1. Jump to next slide
2. Jump to next scene
IF: Scene.SlideNumber = Scene.TotalSlides
It'd be nice to actually be able to add this onto the master slide instead - so I don't need to create Next buttons on ever slide, but with this current bug it's not possible.
Seems to still be a problem today. Glad I found this thread so didn't waste too much time.
4 years and 2 major version upgrades on and a reported screen progressing bug is still an issue. One can only assume that it will never be fixed.
I guess I'll rethink my learner-centred 'do you want to auto or manual proceed' feature.
The bug is still with us in 2023.
