Next scene button not working when placed in master

Jul 18, 2016

Greetings,

I have placed a button in a master slide with the "next scene" trigger. When I apply this master to the last slide in the scene, the button doesn't go to the next scene.

When I place that button directly in the slide (and not in the master), it works. Is it a known bug or am I missing a small detail in here?

Thank you very much!

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to share some great news! We are no longer seeing the bug that caused the Jump-to-next-scene triggers on slide masters to stop working.

Please make sure that you are using the current version of Storyline 360 (Build 3.77.30568.0). This guide walks you through installing, updating, and opening Articulate 360 apps.

Please let us know if you're still encountering the issue and we'd be happy to continue troubleshooting with you in a support case.

Hi Alex.  After testing and then doing a little research, it appears that this issue is known to our QA team.  I'm really sorry about that.  I'm going to add your discussion to their report, and we'll be able to keep you updated on the progress of that bug.

I noticed the "jump to previous scene" was functional.  The workaround at this point is instead of saying "next scene," to say, "scene 2" or whichever scene you'd like them to visit next.  What you could do is create a master layout for each scene so that the "master trigger" will be accurate for each scene.

I've attached an example project where I have the "jump to scene x" buttons on scenes 1 and 2.  In scene 3, I've included "jump to previous scene," which will bring the learner to the last scene visited, and I've included a "jump to scene 1" to jump to a specific scene.  I created a master layout for scene 1 jump button and for scene 2 jump button.

Take a look and see if that's something that would work for your course.

Hello,

I have the same issue.

I'm using masters and created 2 (jump to nextSlide and jump to nextScene) nextScene doesn't work and I find your workaround a bit confusing. I'm going to have a lot of scenes, and creating a master for each one is not functional at all.

Is there any news about this? I'm using SL2.

Thanks

I'd just like to flag this issue is still present.

I use a trick where I have two triggers on my next slide button:

1. Jump to next slide

2. Jump to next scene
IF: Scene.SlideNumber = Scene.TotalSlides

It'd be nice to actually be able to add this onto the master slide instead - so I don't need to create Next buttons on ever slide, but with this current bug it's not possible.

Seems to still be a problem today. Glad I found this thread so didn't waste too much time.

4 years and 2 major version upgrades on and a reported screen progressing bug is still an issue. One can only assume that it will never be fixed.

I guess I'll rethink my learner-centred 'do you want to auto or manual proceed' feature.
