Non secure URL link as a result of web objects

Jan 31, 2018

Hi everyone,

I've been working on an Articulate Storyline 3 project for quite some time now, and I've got a question regarding web objects. I have two web objects in my module (both are videos taken from Youtube), and when my project is tested on our LMS, these web objects create a non secure URL link.

In Chrome: I must click on a "non secure icon" in the upper right corner of the URL in order to allow the scripts to run.

In Explorer, I must click on a box on the bottom of the screen in order to allow the content to be displayed.

This is clearly an issue in terms of a positive user experience, and I was hoping to get your feedback on how to fix this issue.

Also, I am hoping to keep these videos as web objects and not as "videos" in my project, because I have adjusted the start time in each, something I believe we can only do in web objects.

Thank you all in advance for your feedback!

Savannah

With those issues you're better off downloading the actual files and including them in your project. For one, you have no control over the video actually being there when a user goes to access it; web site could go down, video could be removed, edited, replaced, etc. You can still adjust the beginning play time.

You should also ensure you have permission to use the content.
