Not publishing / previewing

Jul 31, 2013

Hello!

I have three courses in Storyline that I'm having some trouble with. Help would be appreciated.

Issues:

  • Whenever I preview a single slide, the preview gets "stuck" as it's generating.
  • Whenever I publish, the process seems to work (all the slides are supposedly generated) but it just brings me back to the Publish dialog box instead of the View Output screen.
  • Whenever I go to modify the player, I get a pop-up dialog box telling me I have low available memory and should close all other applications and save.

Attempts to Fix

  • I have a very powerful machine and I know I don't have low memory.
  • I've replicated these same three problems on two other machines, so I know it's specific to the courses, but not the machines.
  • I have tried cutting and pasting, scene by scene, into a new file. I publish after every scene import, trying to weed out the culprit, and it's fine. It's when I publish the entire thing, with a customized player, that it seems to have problems.
  • Out of the blue, the last file started to have problems when I began to import my narration files. That was a new issue.
  • I've recreated the player in a new file and everything works fine for a while, but then something degrades somewhere and the errors begin. I can't isolate whether the player or a slide or an object is the issue.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I had the same problem. The player with a custom logo was cuasing the player to have its issues, believe it or not the file for the logo was local (on my hard drive) so when others tried to preview the affected file they couldnt preview it either. Thus i couldnt  preview or publish.

The work-around is to import slides to new presentation and setting up the player without the logo until this issue is fully resloved in update storyline 4.
