Only Show Layer on first visit

Nov 05, 2012

I am trying to create an "Instructions" layer and I only want this layer to be viewed the first time the slide is visited because there are 18 other slides that link back to this slide, and it will be annoying if this layer shows the user the simple instructions every time they come back to this slide.

Respectfully,

Hi Jeff,

You can do this with 1 variable and 2 triggers

Define a variable let's say vViewed, which you give an initial value of False

On the slide where you want to show the layer, you define 2 triggers which fire when the slide timeline starts

The first trigger fires and shows the layer when vViewed = False

The second trigger adjusts the vViewed variable and sets the content to True

Cheers

Hi Alvaro!

I'm happy to help! I've created a sample file that includes variables and triggers to show a layer only when the user visits the slide for the first time. I've also created a tutorial that you can watch where I've explained the steps. Here's the link.
