Open PDF in Acrobat instead of web browser

Apr 14, 2016

I just submitted a support case, but thought I would also pose the problem to the community to see if anyone can help.

I'm using the Jump to URL/File trigger to open a PDF. When testing the published course on a CD, opening the PDF causes IE to crash. This has been replicated on a few computers. What I've found online is there are some settings within IE that can fix this, but we will not have control over end user IE settings. Is there any way to have the PDF open in Acrobat or Reader instead of a web browser by default?

The authoring tool I used before would handle PDFs this way, so when the same people test last older courses, they do not have the same issue.

Hi Brittney,

There isnt' a way to control this from within Storyline - as it's system and user specific. You may want to provide your users with instructions on how to open it with Adobe reader if they'd prefer so that way it's set up as an alternative method.

I see you asked Miker about editing the code, so that is something we'd defer to the community in regards too.
