After installing SL360 I've run into an ambiguity opening .story files by double-clicking the .story file in Windows Explorer. It seems to always default to opening SL2.
Is there any way of tagging a .story file to open SL360 keeping the SL2 files opening in SL2?
I wanted to add to Jacob's response here that Windows will use either Storyline 2 or Storyline 360 to open Storyline files, not both. So if you follow the instructions Jacob offered above, your Storyline 2 files will open with Storyline 360 by default.
I checked in with our Developers about this to confirm I wasn't missing anything, but it's considered standard practice for software, and you'll find other apps use the same file extension for their project files regardless of version—e.g., PowerPoint 2013 and 2016 files are both pptx (or ppt); Captivate 8 and 9 files are cptx; etc. So Storyline and the varying versions using the same type of file set up.
Hope that helps clarify and if there is anything else I can assist with, please let us know!
When pptx, docx, and xlxs were introduced, the previous versions of office couldn't open those files. It was a messy time if you had an earlier version of office that didn't support the "x" files. Pun intended.

Hey Sam Clark,
You can change the default launch program in Windows by:
They should now open by default in SL360 when double-clicking the file.

Right... so there's no way to double-click a .story file and have it open the proper editor.
I wonder why Articulate didn't just use a numbered suffix like .story360 ? It would have been clear to humans and the computer too.

This is where Storyline is today.
