Play a Storyline course locally on an iPad

Mar 12, 2024

Hey everyone, I'm looking to play a Storyline course on an iPad with no internet access and no LMS.

I've read several articles online about how you can download different HTML viewer apps, load the files via iTunes, and then play the course in that HTML app. I've tried several of these apps, loaded the files, but haven't gotten them to play the course. Two of the apps just showed the three "loading dots." One app did bring me to the launch screen (I could see the menu, the title, and the start course button), but then when I hit play, the screen went black.

Has anyone had luck doing this?

Thanks

Diane

Hi Diane, the way I have done this in the past, is by using a local webserver such as xampp. I'm afraid it is not the easiest thing to do, and does take some investment in time to set-up.

In a nutshell, you have a webserver running on your desktop PC. You drop your course into the web folder, and it is then available on your PC via "localhost" in your browser. Then to access via another device, the device needs to be on the same network, and then access the content via your PCs local IP address (which can be accessed via the CMD application and typing ipconfig).

Sorry, I know this isn't an easy solution. I'd love to hear if anybody else has a solution.

Minus the internet is the hard part!

Following this thread, thank you.

We have a similar situation (we used Storyline to build an "app" that needs to be totally self-contained on the iPad) and are desperate to find a solution that works. I guess there was some kind of Articulate app back in the day that was supposed to facilitate this, but I couldn't figure it out and it doesn't seem well supported.
