Play media upon trigger is ignored

Mar 18, 2016

I have some screen recordings where I have rolled the mousewheel. This triggeres a slide but unlike the Click slides, this one has no triggers setup to play the animation. I guess this is because SL 2 does not accept mouse wheel roll as input.

My problem is that I cannot stop the slide media from playing. I have added a "Play media <screen recording.mp4> when user clicks hotspot" trigger.

But SL2 gives a hoot and plays it anyways ¬_¬. WHY does it ignore my triggers? It works fine on other slides. Media does not play until hotspot event is completed.

I agree with Christie, would be helpful to see a sample .story file exhibiting this issue.

It sounds more like SL is honoring a pre-existing trigger to play your media rather than ignoring the triggers you're adding.  You need to figure out what they are and modify the existing triggers if possible.

Without seeing a file, flying completely blind, here are a couple of things that I would look at and/or try...

  1. Check the settings for the media clip in Storyline and see if it is set to autoplay...
  2. Try adding a trigger at the beginning of your timeline that pauses the audio.

Finally, your comment that "Media does not play until hotspot event is completed" doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the problem you're describing.  If you could provide a little more context it may help...

Hope this helps,

B
