Playback issues in Firefox - Storyline 2

Oct 16, 2017

Anyone else having playback issues with courses published in Storyline 2?

Here are the issues I'm experiencing:

  • Simple animations (such as a wipe) not functioning. Content just appears instead of animates in.
  • Audio doesn't trigger to start playing, sometimes will start mid-slide instead of at the beginning.

These issues don't occur when I play the course in Chrome.

The course is published with HTML5 enabled. When I disable this feature, the course won't load, even though the location is added to a trusted folder in the Flash global setting menu.

Everything is updated to the latest version (Firefox, Flash player, Storyline 2)

Hey Bobby!

Thanks so much for reaching out here and sharing your experience.

The HTML5 output isn't supported in Firefox for Storyline 2, so I'd expect to run into a few hiccups there.

I know a few browsers have switched to disabling Flash player by default, so double check and make sure Flash Player is enabled in the browser itself. That may be why you're running into the Flash output not loading.

Keep me posted on how that goes!

Hey Bobby!

We greatly improved the HTML5 output when building Storyline 3 and Storyline 360, so you'll find added support to many areas including browsers. Firefox is supported in both Storyline 3 and Storyline 360.

I'd highly recommend giving them a spin using the 30 day free trial. If you're unsure whether to try out Storyline 3 or Storyline 360, check out this handy comparison chart to give you a better idea.

When you upgrade a course to either Storyline 3 or Storyline 360, a backup Storyline 2 version will be created incase you decide to stick with that. So no need to worry about losing access to your current course!

Hope that's helpful- let me know if you have questions 😃
