Player navigation - unrestrict one slide

Apr 04, 2024

Is it possible to unrestrict one slide when I have the player navigation set to restrict? I have a help slide, and I show it in the player menu as "Help" with a link to the help slide, which is in a scene by itself with no links to it other than the Menu link. The help slide is restricted to the "Previous" navigation to always return to where the user/learner left off.

When the Menu is Restricted, it will only allow the user to return to previously viewed slides.

Here's a different way to ensure the HELP slide is always available: lightbox it from a Player tab. This post has info about how to do that: TIP: Create Custom Player Tabs for Your Resources, Glossary, and More - Articulate Storyline Discussions - E-Learning Heroes

I have done what you show.  I have the  player set to restricted (only) and preview the entire course.  The restriction does not work in preview, but the lightbox, labeled "HELP" does.  When I publish it and upload it to our LMS the restriction works but the light box does not work.  I have uploaded this course to scorm.com too and get the same results.  Any help would be much appreciated, trying to get this done before the weekend.  An easy task is taking days.  Thanks for the previous help.

It's impossible to tell what might be wrong based only on that description. If the Menu is Restricted, the restriction should be there in Preview. And  lightboxing a slide should work in an LMS.

If you upload a copy of the .story file, someone else might be able to help. (I won't be on the Forum again until next week.)

You could also try submitting a case directly to the Articulate staff. You can do that here:
