I have imported an audio file to a storyline project. The original sounds really good, but in Storyline it sounds weird. In Engage I had the possibility to change the quality settings but I cannot find such seeting in Storyline besides in the publish menu.
Does anyone have an idea how to keep the quality as high as the original?
If you go to the publish dialogue and click on the hotlink for Quality and choose Custom optimization, you'll get the screen you want... You can also find it in the player settings dialogue....
I ran into the same thing today when I listened to the files in preview they sounded hissy and tinny (in the background) but when I published all was well. Any idea what preview is doing to the audio files?
Thank you for the tip btw about the custom optimization!
I have the same problem. I have a professionally recorded script which sounds perfect in Audacity and when listened to in VLC media player, as soon as I import it into Storyline its very hissy and tinny. I have tried to up the quality settings in the Publish menu and its the same. Even importing the recommended WAV files and then publishing sounds really poor quality.
I have made the experience, that the audio quality is pretty poor when previewing. But when I change the settings as mentionned above and then publish, the quality is fine. And after having published the first time the preview is also fine.
Hi Amy! Sorry to hear that you are having difficulty. When you are having issues with your audio, it's recommended that you convert your audio files to 16 bit 44 KHZ PCM WAV for best results. I can point you to a couple of articles that may help you out (hereand here).
I stumbled upon a setting that sounds perfect in preview and also when published. When using Audacity I have the Default Sample Rate at 2250 Hz (In Edit>Preferences) and the Default Sample Format as 16-bit. Then when I export the MP3 I have the quality at 128 kbps. This seems to work fine for my audio, I hope it helps anyone else with the same problem.

Hi Amy! I appreciate you sharing that information here and glad that you were able to get this going to your satisfaction
Hi Leslie,
I forgot to mention, when publishing the story file I also used Michael's advice above.
Thanks Amy
