For the most part, my PPT (built from a template) imported correctly, but slide 1.7 and slide 1.15 somehow had their backgrounds switched? Slides 1.14 shapes went all over the place.
I downloaded the correct fonts, so I am not sure why these slides are messed up. I am attaching both files if anyone can provide insight.
I was able to recreate your issue. I found that for those slides, the layouts themselves changed when they were imported. That can happen--and I just choke it up to the gremlins. However, if there's no reason why you want to import as a pptx (for example, you aren't using complex animations), then I would save it as a ppt and import. When I did that, the slides came in cleaner--although slide 15 needs some small adjustments. My file is attached.
Background: PPT is the older format and stores all the presentation data in a binary format, making it less flexible and harder to manipulate. On the other hand, PPTX is the newer XML-based format which allows software packages to make changes to the slides.
