I have a course that asks users to enter their name so that it can be customized to that user. How can I create a condition that would prevent users from progressing until they enter their name and receive message advising them as such. I've attached a copy of my course. Refer to slide 1.1 for what I'm talking about.
Hello Jesse, You can do this with a text input box for the name and a button set to disabled or hidden. Add a trigger to the input box - Change State - My Button - Normal when control loses focus.
Curious, how will you be able to customize based on a name?
Not sure I want to hide the next button on users since they are all always there. I usually display a message that appears if certain conditions are not met. I created a text variable called name, then created a data entry field to hold what ever is typed. Where ever I want the name to appear I insert a reference. Check out this thread for a more detailed explanation.
I love it when I figure stuff out on my own. I created a condition where variable Name is not equal to (ignore case) value where I left value blank. So if storyline sees nothing there it won't let you progress.

Hi Jesse!
Glad that you were able to get this sorted for yourself and thanks for popping in and sharing with the community as well.
I know I talk myself through many solutions :) One of my favorite quotes, "Sure I talk to myself, sometimes I need an expert opinion." :)
Some friends of mine introduced me to the concept of rubber duck debugging. Extremely valid life hack for solving a multitude of problems.
