Problem creating conditions

Nov 03, 2013

Hello fellow story tellers,

I am currently building a series of quizzes that can be accessed from buttons on a single slide.  The problem I have is that I don't want to allow learners to progress to subsequent quizzes (go from one button to the next) without first achieving the successful results in the quiz they are doing.  Does any one have any ideas on how to achieve this? Any help that could be provided would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Belinda and welcome to Heroes!

Have you set up anything in terms of a variable at the end of each quiz that when adjusted the next quiz button on the main slide to change states from say, "Disabled" to "Normal"? To get you started you may want to review this tutorial on working with button states, and this one with information about variables.

Hi Ashley,

I am still slightly ignorant on this issue, sorry.  I did above tutorials and was able to use the states and variables functions as long as I was on the same slide.  My quiz completion is in one scene and my button that I want to change the state of is in another scene.  Is that still possible?

Hi Belinda,

Just a quick reply that hopefully get you started;

Variables and their values are accessible and editable from all slides, layers, and scenes within your project.

With this in mind, you can, for example, add a trigger to change a button's state whenever a variable has a certain value.

(you will need to add this trigger to the same slide as your button)

Hope this helps!
