Problem with audio on feedback masters

Jan 21, 2019

I use short sound effects on correct and incorrect feedback. To avoid having to import the sound file on every feedback layer, I put the files on the feedback masters. It works well, except if the user clicks the submit button without choosing an answer.

The user gets this message, which is normal behavior:

Then, when he clicks on the OK button, both sounds (correct an incorrect) can be heard.

Worst part is, after doing this, the audio cannot be heard when submitting the right or wrong answer.

The same phenomenon happens when I exit a light box slide.

My project has close to 800 slides so I can't post here, but I've made a small sample project which recreates the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, JC.  We have those issues documented with the lightbox slide and the invalid answer prompt incorrectly playing layer audio once they're closed.  I'll let you know if a fix is released for them!

In the meantime, the workaround is to add a trigger to "play media (audio) when the timeline (layer) starts" to the feedback layers.  This worked for me in the feedback master, as well.

Great news!  We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes that you'll see in the release notes here.

The item you'll be interested in is:

Fixed: Audio tracks from multiple layers could play simultaneously, even when the layers weren't open.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline 360. Details here.
