Problem with delayed zoom in Storyline 3

Jun 13, 2018

I've inserted zoom areas on several slides - where i have the zoom timed to display immediately, i.e. i have not inserted a delay on the timeline, it still shows the unzoomed screen for a fraction of a second before zooming in. The effect is jumpy - very unprofessional.

has anyone else ever run into this? I can't figure it out!

thanks,

Rita.

Hello Everyone!

I'm happy to share that we have released Storyline 360 version 76 (Build 3.76.30446.0)!

Included in this release is the fix for the bug where Zoom regions didn't work at the beginning of the timeline on slides with transitions.

Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Hi there Rita!

We were seeing an issue in Storyline 3 where zoom regions set to start at the beginning of the timeline weren't working correctly, but we've since fixed that problem.

What version of Storyline 3 are you using?  To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see Build 3.4.15731.0 in the bottom-right corner.

Let me know if you're already on the latest update but still seeing the issue, and we'll keep digging!

Thanks, Rita!

In that case, we'll want to take a closer look at your file to see what's going on. Can you share it with our team here?

Also, you may want to click here to open the discussion, and click Edit to remove the screenshot you attached, since it contains your personal Storyline 3 serial number.

I am having the exact same issue with zoom features that are set on the time line when it starts and they're set to either show till finish or always show and for a brief second the unzoomed image displays. I do need to do an update to my laptop but it's a work issued laptop so I don't have administrative privileges to accept the updates.  I will have to request my organization help desk sign in and accept the updates for my laptop; this is problematic because updates seem to be pushed out frequently. :(

Hello Marina and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know that you're running into a similar issue.

I was able to take a look at Rita's case and see that the issue has been reported for further investigation. We are seeing the same issue in Storyline 360 as well.

I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.

I've attached this conversation to the report so that we can share any updates that we have with you here.

The issue does seem specific to having a zoom region and slide transitions and a workaround is to remove the slide transition in the meantime. Perhaps that will work for you as well.
