Problem with GIF format after update 10

Sep 01, 2016

Hi everyone !

I have some difficulties with Articulate Storyline 2 since the update 10 yesterday. The icon of Articulate’s files doesn’t display on folders and there is a problem with GIF format.

Since the update, animated gifs are not displayed on slides start-up, during few seconds.

In my case, I made a copy/paste of a same animated gif on every slide, without any animation, and it is not displayed at the beginning of each slide on the Preview. I checked: no animations, no triggers, no blanks on the timeline… The problem is visible after publishing the course for Web and CD.

My colleague didn’t install the update 10 and he doesn’t have the problem when he opens my files on his computer.

This is a real problem because the GIF file is our company’s mascot!!! We can’t deal without it…

I tried to uninstall Storyline 2 and reinstall it, but the problem still persists after computer restart.

What do I need to do?

Thank you for your help.

Zoé

Hi Zoé,

The icon change after the update is an issue our QA team is aware of and currently investigating. I've also seen this change on my end. It doesn't affect the files themselves, however, and they should still launch normally in Storyline. I've added this thread to our QA report so you'll receive notifications of any updates in the matter.

As for the issue you're seeing with the GIF, would you mind sharing your .story project file here so I can do some testing? You can add it as an attachment right to a comment in this thread. Thanks!

Apologize for this late response.

I can’t share our mascot for confidentiality reasons, so I created a gif on a new Story project.

I have inserted  the same picture in 2 formats: GIF and PNG. You can see that the GIF disappears at the beginning of each slide, while the PNG doesn’t present any problem.

I send you the story file and a zip publication for Web.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Zoé,

Thanks so much for the further details and your examples. I was able to reproduce what you're seeing with the GIF appearing delayed on the slides after Update 10. I've submitted this issue to our Quality Assurance team for their review. Unfortunately I was unable to determine a workaround. I can't speak to a time frame for when or if this issue will be resolved but I've added this thread to the report. Since you're subscribed here, you'll receive notifications of updates when applicable.
