Problem with HMTL5 Display in IE11: Web Browser does not support HTML5

Aug 17, 2017

We are having folks unable to access our e-learning through IE11 and are getting this prompt. Any ideas?

Any updates on this? I am having the same issue when publishing a course with HTML5/Flash Fallback. We still have IE11 as our standard browser and the course does not launch at all in our LMS after publishing with this format. It displays correctly in the Review mode when publishing to Storyline 360 and using IE11 as the browser to view it...but not when we publish and put onto our LMS. Flash with HTML5 fallback works okay but there is an interaction in the course that does not work as expected when publishing this way (it is a trigger to change the state of a checkmark upon clicking on a hotspot...the checkmark actually shows up on the slide layout that the hotspot goes to instead of only displaying on the base layer).

Hi Lisa

Thanks for checking in here - are you using the latest update to Articulate 360? If so, this includes a programmatic fix for the issues with IE11, and if it's still not working you'll want to work with your LMS team to further troubleshoot this as detailed here - they'll need to help change the settings around compatibility mode.

When I click on the link you sent, a prompt to login to Salesforce.com appears. Is there a way you can send me the article as a .pdf or a different link?

Here's the version of SL360 that this was published under:
3.10.13923.0

How recent was the programmatic fix for the IE11 issues?

Whoops - sorry Lisa! A bad copy/paste. 🙂 I fixed it now, and you'll find it here too.  It was fixed in Update 8, but if you're still having issues there are additional troubleshooting steps you can share with your LMS team.

Can you figure out why the green check appears oddly on all of the items except the second one (Alignment to Strategy?).

It is odd to me why this would happen for all but one of the hotspots I click on.

· When I use the format “Flash with HTML5 Fallback”, the course loads fine in both IE11 and Edge…but I get the odd behavior with all green checkmarks except for the second one (“Alignment to Strategy”).

· When I use the format “HTML5 with Flash Fallback”, I can’t get the course to open in IE11. I have verified that I am using the latest version of SL360 and I even re-created this slide and saved again.

What should have taken me a day to get published has now taken several and I am under pressure to have this out by the end of the year. I love the tool, but these publishing issues are tough to handle.

Hi Lisa,

Did you want to upload your .story file here for us to take a look at? Responding via email doesn't allow attachments to appear here, but you can upload by visiting the discussion and using the Add Attachments at the bottom of the reply window.

When the course doesn't open in IE11 - do you see an error message? a spinning wheel? or just a blank page? Have you tested it in any other hosting environments such as uploading to Tempshare or trying SCORM Cloud?  That would help confirm that the LMS troubleshooting steps previously shared could help and ensure that it's truly IE11, not in compatibility mode.

If you want to share the .story file here with us, I can take a look at the hotspot issue and upload to the sites mentioned.
