For my third slide, if I go to previous, (slide 2), then go back to slide 3 and click the box to go to the layer the media from the base layer doesn't stop. I checked "pause audio on base layer." What am I doing wrong?
To tell Storyline to stop the audio on your base layer from playing, looks like you can just edit the trigger on the Sub-Objectives layer.
I've attached my revised version of your file so you can see how it all works and that the overlapping audio is no longer occurring. Hopefully I've helped you sort this one out, but let us know if you need anything else!

It doesn't show media three as being an option to choose when I try and add a trigger.
Hi Kendra. This behavior looks to me to be a bug of some sort. Simply pausing the media on the base layer should be all you need to do here.
Would you mind filing a support request here? That way one of our developers can take a closer look.
In the meantime, the version of the .story file I attached does seem to address the issue you've been experiencing.
