Problem with offline content

Jan 27, 2014

Hi,

when i published the contents i checked "use Articulate mobile player on ipad" and didn't check the "allow offline viewing"., because i don't want people to see the content if they are not logged on my LMS. I create course online and my students pay to use it only during a short period. When period is over, i dont want  them to use it offline

But it seems that doesn't work. The content is still visible when i am offline. How is it possible?

Hi David and welcome to the community!

You won't be able to remotely remove content from someone else's mobile device. They can remove the content from their own devices, but you won't be able to control whether or not that content stays there.

You could modify the URL for the course, which will render it inaccessible from the device, but I'm not sure how you'd manage the time limit. If you did this, the content would still be listed in their library, but they wouldn't be able to access it, unless you've enabled the offline feature.

Another option would be to publish for HTML5 instead. They could then access the link to the project in Safari and would have to view it through that browser. This way, the content will no longer be available in the AMP library. However, you'll want to make sure that all of the features you've included in your course are supported in HTML5 output.

Compare Storyline's Flash, HTML5 and Articulate Mobile Player output

I know this probably won't help with what you're trying to do, but hopefully you're able to find a way to manage your content in a way that works with your course availability.

Good luck with the project!

Thanks for ur reply, but i think i didnt explain it correctly

The main problem is: i published the contents,  i checked "use Articulate mobile player on ipad" and DIDN'T check the "allow offline viewing". So i guessed the content would not be accessible when there is no internet connection.

But i made some test, and it seems my contents is still visible offline instead i didnt check the box. Why? is it possible or there is something wrong?

Thanks,

Hi David,

Correct - the content they've viewed, however, will still be listed in their library.

If you launch the course in your iPad while offline are you able to view content you haven't viewed while online? Basically, when you enable the offline option, it downloads the entire project and allows learners to complete it while they're offline. When they reconnect to the internet, they can submit their results.

For offline viewing, it stores the course at the beginning. You'll initially need a Wi-Fi Internet connection to download content, but you can view it without an Internet connection thereafter.

When content is published with the offline viewing feature enabled, you'll have an option to download it to your Articulate Mobile Player library. When you do, you can view it at any time with or without an Internet connection.

When that option is not enabled. learners won't have the option to download the course. Are you still seeing this option through the app? If so, did you have it enabled previously?

Thanks!
