Problem with Storyline Templates
Jan 10, 2013
Hi,
If I try to create a new slide iget the following alert:
Could not open project
The file "c:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Local Settings\Temp\Articulate\Storyline\6XA0Jdkow9t.storytemplate" is being used by another process or you do not have the proper security permission to access this resource.
There doesn't seem to be a problem with Basic Layouts, Quizzing, Screen recordings, or Import. It's just the Templates side tab that produces the error. Any ideas?

Hi Kevin,
I may be wrong, but it looks like you're trying to open the templates from the temp directory. I'm not sure this method will work for you.
Storyline maintains your template files in the folder called \My Articulate Projects\Storyline Templates, but the directory may be different depending on your operating system. What version of Windows are you running?
Thanks!
Hi Christine, I'm running Windows XP.
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for getting back to me! A Storyline Template is stored as a *.storytemplate file. By default, these files are located in the \My Articulate Projects\Storyline Templates\ folder, but they could be in another location if you downloaded or saved them elsewhere.
You could try using Windows explorer to search for *.storytemplate and see if any directory other than that temp directory contains template files. If so, just use the directory where they are stored.
Let me know how it goes
Thanks!
Hi Christine,
That worked great! Now the template chooser is referring to the correct location again, after opening a template directly from the \My Articulate Projects\Storyline Templates\ folder.
Many thanks
Kevin
Good morning Kevin,
Glad to hear it!
I hope you had a great weekend and have a great day!
Thanks
