I am currently working on publish a course both for iPad and PC.
I have audio both on main layer and a sub-layer. I used the layer properties to control the auido--when enter the sub-layer, the audio in the main layer will stop (I pause the main layer timeline), then when back from the sub-layer, the audio in the main layer will continue(I use the resume the saved sate).
It works quite well on PC, but when I use ipad, it could not work...
BTW, I included html5 output in the publishing.
Is there anyone had the same problem? Any suggestions?
This sounds like it may be due to current limitations in browser support for HTML5, Storyline's HTML5 output will only play one audio or video resource at a time. You'll need to take this into consideration when developing content for HTML5 delivery.
This could affect your screen recordings if they include audio. HTML5 content cannot play both the video and the audio simultaneously.
The Flash Player and the Articulate Mobile Player app for iPad do not experience this limitation. For full comparison of Storyline's Flash, HTML5, and Articulate Mobile Player output, click here.
Are you able to publish the course for the Articulate Mobile Player, for testing, and see if you run into the same problem?
It may be a caching issue. You can try uploading it using a different file name or directory and see if that works. You'll need to navigate to the URL for the file after it's been uploaded. Once you visit the URL, you should be able to view the content in the app.
If you're not able to get this to work, and if you're able to share your .STORY file here, I'd be happy to upload the course and share the link for testing.
Thank you! Actually, I changed the name for the new file.
What do you mean by navigating to the URL? I zipped the product and uploaded it as a SCORM couseware into the Moodle, so there is no URL for these files.
Hi Christine, I'd like to follow up on the first suggestion you gave Lisa, here it is:'

Upon testing with Articulate Mobile Player, the audio in the main layer resumed upon closing the sub layer, exactly as we want it to work. . However, we can't use Articulate's mobile player. Is there a way to achieve that same effect using variables? We really need to resume the main layer's audio, when the sublayer is closed.
I don't think, and I may be wrong, variables would make any difference, if the issue is in HTML5. I think this is due to the amount of media on the slide, not really with the way it's called. I totally understand if you're not able to use the Mobile Player, perhaps you could have the audio contained in another slide, instead of a layer (you could even make it look like a layer if need be), then have them return to the original slide when they're done with that audio or content. Just a thought
The Articulate Mobile Player doesn't use HTML5. If you view your course on an iPad outside of the app, in Safari for example, you're viewing HTML5 content.

Hi Christine,
Thanks for your quick reply.
I just downloaded the Articulate Mobile Player and published it by clicking "use articulate mobile player on ipad".
Now I have another question, how can I use the player to open this course?
Actually, when I open the course on iPad again, it is still in Moodle(where I uploaded it).
Thanks again for your help!!

Do I have to give a link to my clients?
And you do know that thew Articulate mobile player ONLY supports Tin Can? It does not support AICC or SCORM.
So if using a LMS without Tin Can support (as most are), you only really have Flash and HTML5.
Hey, Gerry,
Now I DO know about it...HAHA
Thanks!!!
So I uploaded all the files into a server (no password needed), then it works!
The player looks great, but it is too complicated!
The clients need to install the player first, we also need to provide free course, etc....
Urgh.....
Anyway....We will see....

Thankd for yoyr feedback. If it is an html issue how come it works in the articulate player.

I hope that makes sense
