Publishing in HTML 5
Dec 13, 2016
I was just told by my CIO that I have to replace all courses using flash (which is about 150) due to security concerns.
I have the "Include HTML5 Output" check box selected (SCORM 1.2 and Tin Can) and see the files get created, but when I upload to the LMS it still defaults to using Flash.
I tried deleting out the regular html files so only the html5.html files were left in the .zip package, but that causes a 404 error with SCORM and won't even let the Tin Can file be imported.
Any suggestions on how to get it so it defaults to html5?

Hi David, It's unofficial, but you can try targeting the story_html5.html directly. Just make sure your data is passing properly when you test. Also, not all interactions carry over well in HTML5, double check everything.
How would I do that? Update the manifest file for the SCORM package?
Apologies, here's the article I derived from https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/help-with-scorm-and-html5
Awesome, thank you! This is definitely helpful information.
My LMS got back to me and showed me how to change which file it was pointing to within the system and it looks like it's no longer using Flash!
Now comes the fun part of figuring out when 150 courses need to be updated....
Hi David,
We have heard a lot of folks mention the need to abandon Flash within the published output, and so I did want to let you know that it's a part of Storyline and Studio 360 to publish HTML5 only or HTML5 first output. It may be just the information you CIO needs to budget for the switch?
Is there an option like this for Storyline 2?
Hi David,
There is not an option within Storyline 2 for the same thing. It was something that we've heard recently and as such it was something we could build into Articulate 360 (including Storyline and Studio) as those products were still in development but not something that could be ported back to Storyline 2.
