QR code access doesn't allow landscape view on iPhone
Jun 01, 2015
Hi,
We have recently produced an alcohol and a cannabis checkup in storyline and our promotional materials have links to them via a URL but also via a QR code. When people access it via QR code on an iPhone the image will not spin to allow a landscape view which is what we designed the project for (Landscape view). It does spin on an iPad though if accessed via QR code.
I have seen this discussion https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/problem-when-publishing-for-iphones#reply-97204
But wondered whether since that time any 'fix' has been produced? Our checkup is almost unusable in portrait view as the font is so small.
I have attached our promotional material if QR code is required to reproduce.
Thanks,
Tracy

Hi Tracy,
I took a look at the issue Dan mentioned in that other thread, and it seems it was fixed as a part of Update 4 within Storyline 1 - based on how iOS7 viewed content.
I'm guessing you're viewing in Mobile Safari? You mentioned you had attached it here, but I didn't see anything - would you like to share another copy? I'm not sure how I'll test the QR code element - but is it being forced to open in a particular way based on the QR code reader?
HI Ashley
Thanks for your reply.
I'm not sure how the QR code reader works but as I was using an iPhone I assume it's with Safari. The strange thing is it works with a QR code reader on the iPad which one would assume uses Safari too?
Sorry, re the attachment it must've dropped off when I edited or something. Should be attached this time :)

Hi Tracy,
Depending on the QR code reader it may be opening it within that particular environment and not directing it to a browser, which is what we saw when testing. Also we were able to force it into Landscape mode on the iphone as shown in the attached images. So it likely depends on the QR reader you're using as well.
Hi Ashley
Thanks for this - reassures me that not everyone will be having the very small font version like me :) When you say you were able to 'force it' into landscape mode do you simply mean it went directly to landscape when you turned your phone, or that you actually did something with your settings to make this happen?
Thanks again
Tracy
Hi Tracy -
Yup, just turning the phone. :-)
Since you also have the course URL on the print out, hopefully folks will see that if they need based on their QR code reader and how it'll display.
True.
Thanks Ashley.
