Question on Reporting and Parsing

Nov 27, 2013

Hi all,

Apologies if this comes across as a strange question - I'm new here!

I'm designing quizzes in Storyline and want to be able to fully query the course responses further than just a percentage or a pass/fail. I would like to be able to get the data for which questions were answered and how so that I can validate my content or review the quizzes themselves. For example, if 90% of the learners get a particular question wrong then I need to know so I can find out why.

I am aware that our learning platform will need some development to report this data however they are saying initially that they are unsure of whether Storyline will parse this information back at all.

Please can someone advise me on what kind of data I can expect to query from Storyline so that I can ask our platform developers to capture it for really granular reporting? Is this an unusual request?

Thanks!

Hi Richard and welcome to Heroes!

Not an unusual question at all - here is the information from a quiz that Storyline will communicate to your LMS. For specific question text, you'll be looking for the cmi.interactions data (i.e., question and answer details). Also, even though you're building your own LMS, you may want to look at the reports that you could generate if you were using Articulate Online to get a sense for what options you may need.
