Question States Displaying Incorrectly/Automatically Resizing

Dec 05, 2012

I'm seeing an issue on question slides that was a known bug when SL was in beta, only it's not in beta now and yet the problem is still happening. When I create a (multiple choice) quiz slide using the built-in slide master question template and then put in the answer options, the states for the answer options don't correctly display. I included some examples below.

The normal state looks fine, but the hover and down states automatically resize so they don't fit in the bounds of the text box. This is not only really annoying, but also a big time suck, since the only way to fix it is to make changes by hand to each individual state that's incorrectly displaying. My whole course is essentially one big quiz. I don't have time to fix everything by hand. How can I get the states to display correctly (as they should) and, more importantly, why does this bug still exist?!

Thanks Alyssa. I'm probably upgrading to Storyline 3, so hopefully that'll resolve the issue on my end.

I am sending along a file privately to hopefully help with the ongoing trouble shooting effort. One thing that's interesting to note, is that the "best" answer does not seem to move/wiggle when it's selected, but the other two answer options do.

Hi there, b si.

I'm very sorry you're at this obstacle. This discussion is a bit older, so I want to make sure you get the most up-to-date support.

A few quick clarifying questions to help us dive in and explore the next steps:

  • Could you share more detail of what's happening in your Storyline 360 course?
  • Do you notice this problem during Preview, in the published output, or both?

If it's easier to share a .story file with us, we're happy to test it with your permission. You can send it privately to us by using this link. We'll delete it after troubleshooting!

Appreciate you sharing that example, b si. It was super helpful to see first hand!

I can reproduce the issue now where text within the multiple-choice text boxes becomes jittery when hovering a mouse over it. Here's a short recording of my test

We have this logged as a bug in Storyline on our end. Although I don't have an update to share yet, I'm going to add your experience to its report to keep you posted on our progress. Here's an inside look at how we tackle bugs like this one!
