Quiz Banks

Nov 25, 2015

Our project is using a quiz bank for each learning objective.  These quizzes are published separately from the elearning modules.  We have 15 questions in the bank and the quiz will have 7 questions.

We need to have 3 types of quiz questions in the mix of 7:  Remembering, Explaining and Applying (by client direction).  I was thinking of creating 3 quiz banks and have the quiz pull from the 3 banks to get the mix of questions.

Is it possible to program the random pull from the banks to ensure we get a distributed mix of 3 explaining, 3 remembering, and 1 applying?  I am assuming - "not".  Another caveat is that we will only have 3 applying questions in the "Applying" quiz bank, and 6 questions in both the "explaining" and "remembering" quiz banks.

If there is an easier way to do this, please let know!  Thanks.

Hi Njeanne,

There isn't a way to program the random nature with the built in set up of Storyline's question bank. If it's set up to random, it'll pull randomly from the question bank based on how many you have indicated to pull and if you redraw from the same bank later in the course, it'll be a random pull again and therefore could pull a question they already saw. You'd also need to have the different topics in their own question banks to ensure it's pulling from all the topics. This tutorial has additional information on working with question banks.
