Quiz users trapped in eLearning

Jan 06, 2015

Hello all,

I've recently had an issue that has affected several eLearning modules that we've produced in the last few months.

Learners have advised that they become stuck after a point in the eLearning.

Following answering a question (see attached .STORY file) and selecting submit on a slide that DOES NOT have the next and previous buttons visible, the user advances beyond the question, then uses previous button to return to the question.

The question slide now shows the next and previous buttons in lieu of the submit button. The previous button will take the user backward, but the next button will not advance beyond the quiz question.

The learner is now stuck in this section, and cannot exit this loop without closing the course and starting again, losing their progress, and using one of their limited attempts.

Understandably this has caused some problems, and would like any advice or suggestions as to a potential fix for this issue as I've tried several solutions and have come up short each time.

I have attached a file showing a mock up of the issue described.

Many thanks.

Hello Andy!

When reviewing a quiz slide, the built in Next button will appear, with the set up to jump to the next slide. I do see that you are not utilizing the feedback layers when they initially hit submit, so you can add a trigger to jump to the slide you need by using the continue buttons (see attached) wen they revisit the course. You could also add a custom next button with a trigger to jump to the 2.1 slide.

Thank you for those solutions Emily,

I've added the link to slide 2.1 from the feedback layers, which takes the user back to the menu page in the first instance.

I've then added a blank slide after the quiz questions, with a trigger to skip to slide 2.1 when the timeline starts, to facilitate the automated next button that appear in review.

Problem solved. Thanks again
