Reporting in Cornerstone on Demand (CSOD)

Jun 01, 2023

Hi!  I wasn't sure if there has been a recent update to this article but I wanted to provide an update based on my recent experience and ask a question based on a current challenge I am experiencing.

I am creating quizzes in Articulate Storyline and will be uploading them to CSOD.  I want the ability to report on learner results beyond passed/failed.  I am looking for more detailed user level data such as which questions they got correct and incorrect so that I am able to identify potential trends such as gaps in learner knowledge or content.

I have learned that in order to accomplish this, I need to make sure that I publish my Articulate quiz as SCORM 2004, 3rd edition.  Here is an article from CSOD which explains more.  Additionally, a custom report in Reporting 2.0 needs to be created in order to report as needed.  Here is an article from CSOD which explains how to do that.

Okay so now to my question.  In order for CSOD to populate the data I need (learner pass/fail and individual question right/wrong), the Articulate Quiz needs to feed that information to CSOD.  Based on the quiz I've attached, have I set that up correctly or do I need to add additional slides and such?

Thank you for your feedback and help!

Hi Ryan,

Great question! I understand you would like to know if you set up your quiz correctly in order to report pass/fail and if the questions were answered correctly to your LMS. I'd be happy to work with you to get that set up!

First, I noticed that your quiz is set up to report pass/incomplete to your LMS. In order to report pass/fail to your LMS you need to change the LMS Reporting setting in your Publish settings. Here's how you can do that.

  1. Click Publish.
  2. Click LMS/LRS.
  3. Click Reporting and Tracking.
  4. Click Pass/Failed in the LMS Reporting drop-down menu.

Next, Storyline 360 will report both how the learner answered the question and the correct answer to the question to your LMS when using SCORM 2004. Here is an article with more on the quiz data Storyline sends to an LMS.

Thanks for reaching out and I hope this helps!

Hey Ryan, I don't know if you got it figured out but I have a story with a quiz in it that I have set to completed/incomplete for tracking, I also have my passing score set to 0 (but they must get a 85 to pass (this makes the quiz unavailble in Csod after the learner took the quiz)

In CSOD my report is setup to pull user name, quiz question description, quiz response, quiz response status, quiz score, quiz question ID, training title, quiz attempt date, and training version.

With that report I can see how the user answered an incorrect answer so we can coach them on it. I hope that helps.
