SCORM not playing on my LMS

Nov 28, 2018

Hi,

I need some help please.  I have created a number of translations of English courses into Japanese and Chinese using Storyline 360.   No fancy transitions or animations included.  Modules are crude containing text, images and audio only.  I created all files exactly the same using .story files my translation folks created.  I opened the files in my  Storyline and set the same player and display  parameters and settings for all files before before exporting to SCORM and uploading to my LMS.

ISSUE:  Despite my successfully testing locally with all courses passing SCORM.Cloud and my review on the LMS.  On release to my Japanese users today some courses are playing without issue and yet others are not playing at all.  The player is displayed but blank without content other than the menu on the left hand side.

I have contacted my LMS provider and they have confirmed that all courseware has been loaded correctly, modules and language variations of the files have been named and loaded correctly.  THe LMS correctly determines the module language version to display for the users language preferences.   And they can get all modules to play successfully on their end.  On checking the file itself they say they can see some JS errors (not sure what they are) but essentially they have done everything to confirm the LMS is not the issue.  They have suggested that I discuss with the authoring vendor and so here I am.

I have also had a few instances where Kanji characters have converted as symbols in my content and not sure if this is a secondary issue or connected the above.

I attach my SCORM file and the .Story file.  This is quite time sensitive as these courses were supposed to be deployed today.

Welcome, June. You've come to the right place for help!

Smart call to also open a case with our Support Team and to troubleshoot in SCORM Cloud. Since the course works as expected in another LMS environment, I echo Renz on these next steps:

  • Enable LMS debug mode to capture the communication flowing back and forth between your Storyline course and LMS. This data along with the detail that the issue isn't happening in SCORM Cloud can help give your LMS support/administrator insight into what the LMS is trying to tell us.
  • Be sure to let us know what LMS you're using. Lots of folks in your new community may be using the same one and can hopefully share some insight here!

Keep us posted!
