Screen Freezes

Apr 28, 2013

I have one file of 34MB in size, with around 40 slides in 5 different scenes. it was working fine until one day I clicked on a button and tried to apply "jump to" to it. as soon as I scroll down to the half way of all the slides, the Storyline freezes, and I can't do anything but to force close the software.

Can someone please help me with this?

Thanks a million.

Hi Ken,

First, please make sure you're modifying local files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you are working locally, can you tell me if this happens with any other files? Please try creating a new, blank Storyline course and try to create a "jump to" trigger. Does the same thing happen?

You may be able to get this file working by inserting the existing slides into a new Storyline course. Please create a new Storyline course and insert the slides from your original course.

For more information about how to do this, please see the following tutorial:

Importing from Another Storyline Project

Let me know if you see any improvements.

Thanks!

Christine
