Screen reader announces links as visited although the links haven't been activated yet by the learner.

Dec 20, 2022

Hi all!

I am testing an eLearning course developed in Storyline 360, using Jaws and NVDA. All the links in this course are announced as visited although I haven't touched them. Is there a setting for link states that can be changed so that it won't say "visited" before I click on them? I don't have access to the storyline file but one of our LEDs is working on a new course and the same thing happens to her. We'd appreciate any solution for this error.

Many thanks!

Hello Andreea,

Thanks for reaching out!

I tried replicating the behavior you encountered on a new Storyline 360 project file using NVDA but was unable to experience the issue. Using NVDA, I was unable to hear the reader announce the test link as being in the visited state after navigating through the items in the slide. Here's the link that I used for testing for your reference.

Would it be possible to request for a sample project file from you that I can test? You can share it here or in private by opening a support case. We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Hi Andreea,

I'm happy to chime in! I looked at the screenshots, and if I'm correct, you are testing using an LMS. If so, have you tried testing your course in a different LMS to confirm if the behavior you're experiencing is specific to your LMS? SCORM Cloud is a great environment that you can use for this purpose. Here's how to test your course in SCORM Cloud:
