Screen Recording Action playing too soon
Oct 27, 2017
I have been creating quite a number of videos with Storyline 360 that include software simulations. In the slides within these videos, I have a few set it up to play a Screen Recording Action clip, a few seconds into the slide, not at the beginning. When I preview the slide though, I find that the action clip plays at the beginning and then plays again at the correct point in the timeline.
I've attempted re-record these but I experience the same results. So far, I've been able to work around it (moving it to a slide by itself) but I would like to see if I can get a resolution to this as I have more videos to create!
Attached is a picture of the timeline. Since I couldn't find anything on line or in this discussion group regarding this particular issue, I'm sure it's something that I'm doing incorrectly. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have any triggers or anything that could be causing the video to play at the beginning of the timeline? Could you post a version of your project here with only the problematic slide?
Michael, I appreciate your time to review. Attached is the one of the slides that I'm having this issue with. I do have a cue stop in this slide but the problem exists whether I have it in there or not. Thank you.
Sorry this is giving you headaches, Sharon. In the Storyline 360 HTML5 output, we're seeing a problem where the action in view mode steps slides incorrectly plays as soon as the timeline begins. We've got this documented as a bug, and our team is looking into a fix.
Thanks for letting us know this is affecting you, and I'll keep you posted on any new information I receive about this!
Hi!
I'm experiencing the same issues and so is the rest of my team.
We have customer who is waiting for their product, but we can't do a decent timing because we can't preview. And the great work-around Sharon did, will be too time consuming.
Are you any closer to a fix?
We have the same problem! We produce a lot of it training with screen capture/recording and right now we can't work because preview and publish doesn't work! This is costing us a lot of money! We are considering a cancellation of our subscription and switching to Captivate.
It's been almost three weeks now!!! And no fix! It worked 100% before and you give us no possibility to downgrade to an earlier version! You shouldn't push updates like that and not check your product - and not allow downgrades!!!
I'm experiencing the same issue. Unfortunately the most recent updates haven't fixed it.
Hello Sammi - Sorry to hear that you've run into this issue as well.
This is something that our team is aware is causing an issue for users and internally we have prioritized this based on user impact.
I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.
That does not give me a timeframe to share of course, but it is at the forefront of discussion.
Hello Henning and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
I would encourage you to reach out to our support engineers here to discuss any possible options of rolling back to a previous update.
That's not something we can assist with in the forums.
Hello Nicklas and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
Sorry to hear that you've run into this issue as well, and it is still open with our team.
I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur, but know that this has been brought to the forefront of conversation internally.
Hi all,
Great news! We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes and new features that you'll see in the release notes here.
The item you'll be interested in is how we fixed an issue where hint captions could display at the wrong time in view-mode screen recordings in HTML5 output.
Use the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application to install the update - more details here.
Note: This issues is fixed in Storyline 360, and will be available in Storyline 3 upon release of the next update - date TBD.
