Screencast as Test Mode Step-by-Step Slides not grading correctly

Jul 26, 2017

I've uploaded my course to our LMS (Canvas), but when I test this feature, the hotspots work but the grading is off. What have I done wrong? I'm attaching an image of the problem, as well as my story file.

Hi Stephanie!

Just for some background, it's an industry standard and assists us in quickly identifying if an issue lies within the project file or an LMS. Check out this article for details.

I see where you've further mentioned that the scoring does not work correctly within the Preview, so that certainly seems like it may be project related.

It looks like you updated your original post to include the .story file, so I can take a look and get back to you.

Hey Stephanie,

Thanks so much for sharing your file with me!

The first thing I noticed on that results slide was that the triggers weren't assigned here:

However, when I did assign them- the slide still wasn't functioning properly. I ended up deleting that results slide entirely and inserting a new one with your setup. The new results slide appears to function as you're wanting!

The next change I made was regarding that menu problem you mentioned. In your slide properties, you have the option to "Reset" the menu to match your course using this button:

Once I did that, all your slides appeared in the menu again.

I've attached your edited course here. Let me know how it works for you! 😄

Hi Ali,

Thank you so much for your help. I'm really trying to figure this stuff out with very little guidance. I'm having a DIFFERENT problem with my second attempt at implementing Screencast as Test Mode Step-by-Step Slides. Once again, it's not grading correctly - it keeps saying I failed. So, part of the nav process is a mouseover, so after the test mode slides created themselves, I deleted the first hotspot and created a new one, set to advance-on-mouseover. When I test it, though, the quiz keeps saying I fail. Is it because of the new hotspot?

The scene in question is Scene 2 in the attached story.

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for including your updated file!

Your Hotspot slides are set to submit the interaction when the hotspots are clicked. And since Slide 2.1 is set to advance when you hover over the hotspot, the interaction never gets submitted.

Mouse hovers don't play nicely with test mode slides, so you'll want to remove the mouse hover trigger on slide 2.1.

Give it a try and let me know if the scoring is working correctly for you!
