Slider and scrolling panel together

Apr 27, 2017

Hi -- Pretty sure this isn't possible, but I'll give it a shot.  I have an image in a scrolling panel at the top half of a screen .  What I'd like is to be able to adjust the content displayed in the bottom half of the page (potentially also in a scrolling panel, but not necessarily) based on the position of the image.  As the user reviews what's in the scrolling panel at the top, a relevant piece of information displays at the bottom.  Can't just add captions to the image, because it obscures the content..... need to have the two pieces of information displayed concurrently.

So, I need a way to know the position of the scrollbar.  I thought I could do this with a hidden slider, but I don't believe there's a way to trap the scrollbar position.  Any suggestions on how I could implement such a thing?  Thx.

Hi there, Martin!

I think you were headed in the right direction with using a slider!  They're so versatile.

I made an example where I created a custom "scrolling panel."  I really just used a slider to trigger state changes to my text box.  It appears as though it is scrolling.

I applied those same triggers to change the state of a second text box so that it scrolls at the same time.  Check it out!

I know you could tighten it up and make it even better!  For smooth scrolling, adding more stops on your slider are key.

Hope that gets the gears turning!
