Hello Michael, thanks for your idea! Good point. I just checked and I have objects very close to it. I moved them and tried again and it's still not working.
can you share the .story file - easier for someone to help you if they can work with your file setup. Just use the grey 'add attachment' button at the bottom of the post.

Maybe there is some object on your slide that slightly overlaps the slider?
