SoftSim of App hosted in Citrix - No Text Entry Box Recognition

Feb 15, 2013

Hi,

I'm creating a software sim of software hosted on Citrix that is used for registering and managing patients in clinic setting - LOTS of text boxes. My problem - the normally precise Storyline action that recognizes text entry fields during screen recordings and creates perfect replica hotspots is having trouble defining the text boxes. It recognizes that text entry is taking place but cannot recognize the parameters of the text boxes themselves and so creates full-page text entry fields and generic hotspot boxes in the area where I happened to click the text box. We had similar problems auditioning Captivate and I will say that Storyline does a better job of this than Captivate did but is still far from usable. Is anyone aware of a way to solve this? I'm currently going back and resizing the text boxes which is less than ideal considering the sheer number of text entry fields in this software. Plus, this is imperfect and looks like amateurish.

HI Brandon,

As far as I know, Articulate software is not supported in a server environment, such as Citrix or VMware ThinApp.. Have you tried testing this on a web server or LMS, just to see if it functions properly outside of the app you're using? You could also take advantage of the free trial with Articulate Online for testing purposes and see if the functionality suits your needs.

You're also welcome to submit your course's .STORY file to our technical team for testing. Maybe they can give you some additional suggestions for your course.
