Text Entry boxes run together on try mode and test mode screen rec

May 16, 2014

I'm trying to demo our software with many text entry boxes and did a screen recording with storyline.  On one screen we have many boxes in a row where we must enter text and numeric values.  When I do  a screen recording and press the "tab" key between boxes, it doesn't always register as separate text boxes when I go to use the recording in try mode and test mode in storyline.  For example, in the attached picture, I type "Brand" followed by "tab", then "expense", followed by 2 "tabs",, then "Cheap" followed by "tab", then Costly, followed by "tab",  etc.   Storyline creates a text entry box that requires me to type "CheapCostly" in one box.  I even tried pressing "print screen" between each entry but that just gives me more screenshots to work with, from which I would have to enter the text entries myself, I presume.  Any suggestions?  Do I have to click in the new boxes to get it to register?

Hi Brooks and welcome to Heroes!

I just tested this out on my own Storyline files, and saw the behavior you mentioned - it seems to randomly add the break into the text entry. I've shared this with our QA team for further review, but I don't have a time frame to offer in regards to when I'll hear back from them,

In the meantime, I'd suggest using the work around of adding the individual text entries or modifying the text entries once they're generated using the screen recording.
