Storyline 2 Feedback Master glitches, or am I doing something wrong?

May 15, 2016

Hi. I am customising feedback slides in the feedback master for "correct - continue" and "incorrect - try again". The problem is, when I then click on the feedback layer in my quiz slide, and select the layout I want, it doesn't fully come across. The button I created called "try again" is presenting as "continue".

Also, I can't seem to apply my feedback designs to all slide as once. Can anyone help. Thanks

Hi Neil, I usually experience the same. The first thing to do when starting a project is to set the feedback master slides correctly (view> feedback master) and the wording of the buttons (player>text labels) correctly. Only then start adding new questions to the project. I have experienced that questions that were already in the project won't always display the correct style and wording if those were formatted later.

Hope this helps!

Good luck! Annemarie

Hi Neil,

There isn't a way to set the feedback masters for a number of slides as once, as they have more than one layer associated with them. If you do as Annemarie instructs in terms of setting up the changed to the built in feedback masters first then those will carry over when you create new questions.

If you think that there is a problem in the file we're always happy to take a look. You can upload it here using the "add attachment" button.

Hi Natasha,

You mentioned not being able to share the file based on confidentiality, but if you'd be able to send it to our Support Engineers here that would be private and kept confidential. We'd want to take a look at what you are describing to see if we can reproduce it in your file and in a new file. We've seen some similar issues with feedback master formatting that we have reported to our QA Team, but I don't have an update on  those items at this time.

I'm not sure what you mean in regards to the next button - do you mean on the player? There isn't a way to move that around, it will always be in the bottom right corner.

Hi Ashley.

Unfortunately fire wall issues won't let me export any kind of file. I'm glad someone is looking into it. Please continue to follow up.

The next button I'm referring to is within the review feedback box. There is also a header on that same layout. However, neither of these things actually show up on the master in the layout, they only show up on your slide. So any edits have to be done manually to each feedback layer. The review feedback box is the only layout you can move around on your slides--which is good when learners need to see what's behind the box. The other feedback slides can't be moved unless you are on the master--which won't work when the stuff in the background is in different places depending on the slides.

Hi Natasha,

I can certainly add this thread to the existing report in case it's the same issue so that we'll be able to update you here. We're unable to offer timeframes in regards to when we'll have an update to share - so I appreciate your patience.

As for the feedback master elements - I believe you're referring to the grey boxes as shown here:

The main grey background box can only be moved within the feedback masters as you have found, but the continue button or the individual text on the slide can be moved and edited on the slide layer. If I'm misunderstanding what you're running into, I think we'll need to see a copy of your file or at least a screenshot. You can always reach out to our Support Engineers here where they'll provide a link for you to upload securely.
