Thanks Ashley. Support for SL1 has been discontinued, and I expect that the same will happen eventually with SL2. Do you anticipate that it will take a year from now for the majority of users to upgrade to SL3 before Articulate retires SL2?
We continued support for Storyline 1 until Storyline 3 was released. While we can’t predict the future, you should expect a similarly long-term commitment to Storyline 2.
In some preliminary testing, I created a file in 360 and included video, icons, characters and stock images from the content library. Then I saved it and closed 360. I then went to open it in SL3, expecting to see the error messages that were referenced in this thread. Instead it opened just fine, I could still see and work with the assets from the content library (though I couldn't access the CL to get more). Is that just because I have both 360 and 3 running on the same system?
Right now Storyline 3 and Storyline 360 have feature parity, but since Articulate 360 is continuously updated, and Storyline 3 will not be, that won’t always be the case. Articulate 360 users will always get new features as soon as they’re available, and that means there will definitely be some projects that won’t be editable in Storyline 3.
Content library assets will work in Storyline 3 if you’ve inserted them in Storyline 360.
Adam - are you saying that there will be some features that 360 will get that SL3 will never see? or that there will be some lag time - hitting 360 first, then SL3 later? Or is it a little of both?
So Storyline 3 is not going to be part of 360 but a separate product? What is the purpose of Storyline 3--just to have the ability to buy a perpetual license with limited updates? Some clarification would be helpful.
You may also want to check out this table to see how Storyline 3 compares to Storyline 1, Storyline 2, and Storyline 360. As Jake mentioned, Storyline 3 is the same as Storyline 360 but without Articulate 360 subscription features, such as Content Library and Articulate Review. This means you can open Storyline 3 and Storyline 360 projects interchangeably, which is great when you’re collaborating with other Storyline users.
As Storyline 360 continues to evolve, there will be new features that exist only in Storyline 360. This means you won’t be able to open Storyline 360 projects in Storyline 3 if they include new features specific to Storyline 360. You’ll still be able to open Storyline 360 projects in Storyline 3 if they don’t have Storyline 360–specific features, and you’ll always be able to open Storyline 3 projects in Storyline 360.
I´m experiencing huge problems with handling of videos. Already lost three days of work. I never had problems with videos on Storyline 1, but now I am experiencing: - frequent freezing of the app - videos , even small 3 Mb ones, take forever to play, - the scrubbing indicator in the timeline does not keep up with the playing. - app crashes when I try to edit video. - CD output wont play.
I wonder if anyone else is experiencing these problems.
We have black text in the notes, on a white background. Sometimes in the publish all the notes text is white. To turn it back black we need to 'retell' one slides notes that it is black.
We only need to do it to one slide to turn them all back.
Like Mary, I was thrilled too! But I am having issues with my computer locking up since installing SL3. It happens both while running SL3 and at any point after closing it. I am running in Win 8.1, and working on a short course imported from SL2.
I would like to try an uninstall/reinstall. Can anyone tell me if my serial number will still work for the reinstall (on the same machine) or will I have to get it reset by Articulate?
The serial number will still work for the product that you have a license for - so if you need to uninstall and reinstall you should be fine. Let us know if you have any problems!
Hi! Some of my team members are using SL2. If I create/edit .story files in SL3, is it going to be any issue for others? Will they be able to use the same .story files(created in SL3) for further edits/additions?
SL3 is not backwards compatible with SL2. Storyline 2 cannot read files edited in Storyline 3.
Storyline 3 uses a different file format than Storyline 2. When you open an SL2 course in SL3 it makes an "SL2 Backup" file and then creates a new file that can be read in SL3, just like it does in the transition from Storyline 1 to 2. So while SL3 can import SL2 files, SL2 cannot read SL3 files.

We are excitedly trying SL3 out here, looks great so far, everything we needed from 360 without the hilarious subscription.
We will probably be upgrading to this if testing goes well - which it seems to be. (we're hoping the testing we did in 360 is still relevant for it)
Will SL2 continue to be supported beyond Update 11?
Yes it will, William! As you can see from our Support Policy, we continue to support Storyline 3 and Storyline 2!

Steve, Storyline '3' is already part of 360.
Storyline 3 is the 'current' version of Storyline 360 released separately.
Hi Jake, at a higher price point? Why pay more to get less? Just trying to have clear communication about the differences.
Storyline 3 is a perpetual licence, meaning you pay for it once.
Storyline 360 is a subscription meaning you pay for it once a year.

Thanks for telling us about this, Marcos!
I see that you're working closely with Jonathan in your Case # 1049116, and I'll be following along as well.

Bit of an odd one!

Hi !
I tried it and I wrote an article. You can read it here.
The article is in French.
What does this mean for those of us in 360? Is that automatically upgraded to include these features? thanks.
