I have seen this issue posted before, but I have not been able to find a fix. While working in Storyline 3, when I attempt to select the "Player" button, I get the attached error, and unable to use the player function. Hoping for assistance so we can continue to utilize Storyline.
Thanks for raising this Chad. I'm also experiencing the same issue on two separate files. I can't access the Player function at all.
@Katie, It's not causing the app to crash, I just can't get the the player settings. Closing the error message is not a workaround, it just closes the message, leaving you in the same situation you started with. Is reinstalling the software likely to fix the problem?
I'm sorry you ran into this bug, and that's a great question. After going through the repair steps, the crash remains, unfortunately.
If you're in a bind, we'd love to connect with you directly to try to help until a fix is in place. Simply use this private case link, and our Support team will be in touch!
We got to the bottom of my issue - it was just because I hadn't installed the version 11 update of Storyline 3. I had assumed that updates were handled centrally, so it didn't occur to me that I could just install it myself.
I am experiencing the same thing with Storyline 360. Interestingly, my colleague is able to open up my file and access the player settings on his computer, and this problem is not affecting any other courses on which I'm working.
As promised, I'm popping back in to share an update on the issue you previously experienced. We just released another update to Storyline 3, so be sure to check out all the details on Build 3.12.24693.0 here. The issue you may be interested in specifically is:
Fixed: Storyline 3 could crash when applying the built-in player.
If you run into any issues after updating, please be sure to notify our support team directly here.

Hi, Chad,
I assume that the first thing the Articulate folks would suggest is to re-load the Storyline program, because something might have corrupted it.
If that doesn't work, I suggest you contact them directly. I've always found them to be very responsive and very helpful. Here's the link:

Thanks. I would have to go thru the Human Resource for this, so would love to try a different route. Thanks again
Good morning, Chad!

I'm sorry we haven't found a sound workaround other than closing the error message, but we'll notify you the moment there's more to share!

@ Natalie,
That is exactly what is happening to me. I really need to make changes within the Player function, but unable to.

Hi Mike,
Interesting that you're only seeing an issue with the player on a specific course, but it's not happening to your colleagues.
