Storyline 3 Player error

I have seen this issue posted before, but I have not been able to find a fix. While working in Storyline 3, when I attempt to select the "Player" button, I get the attached error, and unable to use the player function. Hoping for assistance so we can continue to utilize Storyline.

A co-worker is also experiencing this issue.

Hi, Chad,

I assume that the first thing the Articulate folks would suggest is to re-load the Storyline program, because something might have corrupted it. 

If that doesn't work, I suggest you contact them directly. I've always found them to be very responsive and very helpful. Here's the link:

So glad Judy pointed you to the right place for guidance, and I appreciate you connecting with our team! To recap Fannie's findings:

  • Behavior: Selecting the player in Storyline 3 causes the app to crash.

I'm sorry we haven't found a sound workaround other than closing the error message, but we'll notify you the moment there's more to share!

Thanks for raising this Chad.  I'm also experiencing the same issue on two separate files.  I can't access the Player function at all. 

@Katie, It's not causing the app to crash, I just can't get the the player settings.  Closing the error message is not a workaround, it just closes the message, leaving you in the same situation you started with.  Is reinstalling the software likely to fix the problem?

Hi Mike,

Interesting that you're only seeing an issue with the player on a specific course, but it's not happening to your colleagues.

  • What are you seeing when clicking on the player for your course?
  • Do you know what version of Storyline you're using?
    • You can check by going to: Help > About Articulate Storyline
    • We are currently on Build 3.48.24159.0 of Storyline 360. You can read all of the details here.
