Storyline 3 States Not Working

Hi Hannah. Thanks for sharing those details. Do you have any other states associated with this shape? I'm not able to recreate this behavior between Storyline 2 and Storyline 3 using just a Normal and Selected state. Also, can you toggle the Selected state by clicking the object multiple times?

Thanks for sharing your file with me here. I took a look and I was able to see what you described, although creating a new object in your file behaved normally.

Can you share some more details on how you went about creating and editing the selected state of your objects so that I can try to recreate and figure out where things went a little haywire? 

Yes!

I made a orange rectangle. I duplicated that state and choose the selected state for it. On that state I gave the orange rectangle a 0 opacity, placed my vector image and words. I then went back to my normal state with the orange rectangle and added the words to that state in edited state mode.

Hey Hannah! Thanks for that description of how you built those states. I have an easier way to create the Selected state so that it works independently of the Normal state's formatting. Here's what I did:

• Instead of adding a text box to the Normal state in the "Edit States" view, add your text directly to the shape. You can add text to any shape by just typing directly on the shape. I removed the text box from the Normal state and added "SERVICE" directly to the rectangle.
• Create a new state instead of duplicating the Normal state. Choose Selected from the dropdown. It will automatically inherit the Normal formatting which can be deleted or edited.
• Delete the rectangle from the Selected state, and add your image and other text.

Here's a Peek of how I recreated your Selected state. I've attached your modified file as well. Let me know if that works for you!
