Storyline 360 Courses don’t time out in the LMS

My LMS provider states the 360 is making calls to the LMS every second even when the user is inactive. As a result, the student does not get timed out as our courses require. Is this correct and what can we do to address this so that courses do not send the calls every second when a user is inactive and the student gets timed out?
