Storyline crash and freeze

Hello everyone,

I want to start by appologizing for my bad mood. When things work I am fine....

I am looking for help here as I don't seem to be able to get the support I need from Articulate to solve these issues.

I purchased Storyline to create courses for my clients.

My computer:

Windows 7 Home Premium. 

8 Gigs

i5

Antivus all up to date

Connected to 30 mbs


Storyline just keeps crashing and crashing. I send the reports and make the calls but no reply and no fix. Today I am working on a large project and after many hours of work (without me saving it) Storyline freezes as I go to change a layout. 

My questions are...does Storyline have an auto save setting? If so, how often does Storyline save? What can I do to make these experience stop?

Hi Stephen, welcome to the Heroes community - albeit under trying circumstances.....

The short answer is "no", there is no "Autosave", basically - you need to get used to "CTRL-S".

Many of us have requested this feature, for a variety of reasons - and hope this is built into the next maintenance release or at the very least v2.

That said, I hope Support see this, and/or your existing Support Call, and help you out here.

Have you posted a copy of your .story file to support?

Really sorry for the trouble, Stephen, but we appreciate you posting the screencast. For future reference, this is the best way to contact our support team. The response is usually pretty quick. 

As for the freezing issue, you may want to run through these incremental troubleshooting steps to see if it improves the performance of Storyline. I hope so, and thanks again for reaching out to us.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I swallowed the bullet and killed the process. OMG I lost so much work!!!! ARGH!!!! I am scarred to use the product because, as you know, saving should be second nature but the fact of the matter is that once you start creating it is so easy to get forgetful. I agree with you that there should be an auto-save feature. Without the auto-save feature this is a dangerous product regarding losing time and money as well as ideas.

BTW. Support called and said the same thing you did. Nothing more. I did put in a request for the auto-save feature. I'll stay on top of it.

Until that upgrade comes I will be looking for another product to work with (that has an auto-save feature) because my fear is too high as there are just so many courses, money, time, etc. at stake.

Sorry to hear about the difficulty. Just as an FYI, sending those reports does not create a case for us to respond to. They simply go to our development team.

What you are experiencing is not typical behavior. I have created a case for you and asked one of my senior support engineers touch base with you and see what they can do to help you out. You should be hearing from him shortly.
