Storyline Crashing After Registry Cleaning

Dec 04, 2012

I have recently starting using a registry cleaning program called Registry Reviver, that got very good reviews. However, ever since I started using it, each time it scans and repairs registry errors it messes with my Storyline program. When I am in a story and try to add a new slide or perform various other functions, Storyline crashes. I can only get a functioning copy of Storyline working if I uninstall and re-install a new version. I'd like to both keep my registry clean and keep a working copy of Storyline. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks very much,

Whitney

Obviously the reg cleaner is removing something it should.  If you can determine what it is removing you might be able to setup an exception to those items in Reg Reviver (idk, never used it).

1.  Run the cleaner so you have a clean reg.  Restart your PC.

2. Uninstall Storyline.  Restart your PC.

3. Install Storyline. Restart your PC.

4. Run Registry Reviver.  You should now have a list of the registry changes that Storyline has added that Registry Reviver keeps killing.  Now you just need to make Registry Reviver ignore those items.  I bet working with there support will be needed.

Registry cleaners are tricky.  There is a very good chance something needed gets deleted, that's why most of the cleaners have built registry backup and restore.  I've been using CCleaner for 5+ years.
