Storyline needs to close error

Aug 12, 2013

I attempted to open Storyline today and received this error (attached snapshot). My IT department uninstalled and reinstalled and we are still getting this error. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? It was working fine up until last Tuesday and when I came back to the office today, nothing. I tried to open Articualte Presenter and that comes up as 'Not running" when I go into the task manager, Engage and Quizmaker are fine.

Hi Julie,

Can you confirm that you're doing the following, which if not followed can cause unusual behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

You mentioned your IT department did an uninstall/reinstall (of Storyline, I assume) but you may also need to repair the supporting Windows software.  If that doesn't help you, would you be able to submit a support case?

    Hi Ashley,

After I posted my issue yesterday, I did some more digging on your site this morning. It took me a while but I did find the same you link you are referencing in your reply. I am now up and running again. It suspect that the uninstall performed yesterday did not really uninstall. Using the slCleanup.bat file worked. Thank you for your response.
