Storyline not displaying properly in Moodle
May 11, 2016
I'm uploading my Storyline files to our Moodle LMS and having real problems with how it's appearing. I have to have it display in a pop up window (that's no problem) otherwise you only see a bit of it. But even then it sits very low on the screen and often the next and previous buttons aren't visible. I don't know if this is a Moodle problem or the way I've published (but I've not really altered the standard Storyline options).
I've tried to get support from our LMS helpdesk but they are much less helpful than the people here! I've changed all sorts of settings in Moodle with very varying results but can't for the life of me work out what's going on. The effect is different on different devices (e.g. it seems to work better on my tablet rather than PC monitor).
I imagine a lot of you use Moodle - has anyone else had a similar experience and how did you resolve it?

Hi Mark
Are you viewing/playing the SCORM activity as an Admin user in Moodle? We have the same issue here so we test how it looks with a generic student account.
Hi Mark!
Looks like Liz has popped in to share her experience with you here. If you are able to replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, be sure to share your .story file so that we can take a look. Otherwise, hopefully our Moodle community will be able to assist.
Thanks Liz - helpful suggestion but that's what I tried and the problem persists. Basically the Player sits too low on the screen partially obscuring the next/previous buttons. When I hide the Moodle navigation on the left it drops further completely obscuring those buttons, I've found I can use the bar on the right to scroll down but it's not obvious and not a solution.
Our LMS support suggests changing the Moodle navigation settings. I've not had any success with this and can't understand why it should be necessary since I'm not trying to do anything complicated.
Likewise I've not done anything complicated to the Storyline settings except enlarge the text on the player.
Have you or anyone else had a similar problem?
And thanks Leslie - I'll have a go at that and also put a screen grab here.
Sounds like you need the CSS on the player window changing to fit the content better.
What version of Moodle are you suing as later versions had much better layout with Storyline courses.
Mark,
You can try changing below setting in Articulate player settings & republish to Moodle. I remember this working for us.
Player --> Other --> Browser Settings --> Player size --> "Scale player to fill browser window"
We had that issue and had the CSS of the Moodle Player changed to accommodate it, this really is fixed in newer version, but may be something wrong with your theme.
Thanks Phil - are you referring to the Moodle theme?
LMS support tell me to change the appearance of the SCORM package on the site by hiding the content and their navigation buttons - that doesn't really seem to solve the problem although the results are a bit variable.
I have the same issue on this. Any solution?
Hey Prince!
Since this is an older discussion, let's start fresh. First, what version of Storyline are you using?
Also, have you done any testing in SCORM Cloud yet? If so, are you getting the same results? We generally compare the behavior in SCORM Cloud to your LMS experience to try to parse out file issues versus LMS issues. We are happy to help you with that testing if you'd like to share your file!
