Storyline Performance

Aug 17, 2016

I'm wondering if there's a way of making Storyline take better advantage of my PC's perfomance?

I've recently upgraded my workstation to the following:

  • Xeon E5-1603 v3
  • 32Gb RAM
  • NVIDIA Quadro K2200
  • Windows 7 64 bit
  • Some sort of hybrid hard drive.

It's a pretty speedy machine and almost all apps have sped up compared to my old Core i5. The exception is Storyline 2. I've got the latest update (10) but it still seems to use only a fraction of the system resources. I've attached a screenshot of Task Manager during a translation export.

The core on the left has some load but the three on the right are on tickover. The memory is barely taxed either. From this is looks like Storyline 2 is designed for a 32bit/single core environment.

We run in a managed environment so it could be the way our machines are set up. Consequently, if I know how to make Storyline 2 use more system resources then I can pass this to our systems support team and ask them to reconfigure our workstations appropriately.

If Storyline 2 is a 32bit/single core app then let me know and I'll add this to the requests for Storyline 3!

Cheers

Chris
