I'm using the Open Sans default font in Storyline 2. The font is clear, but when I preview it, it displays with a shadow, even though I have not selected a shadow effect. Is there any way to remove this effect?
I noticed this more in SL1 than in SL2 but this was how I fixed it.
The 'S' icon on the Home ribbon > Font section, if you highlight your text, click the S to activate, then click again to deactivate. Also selecting the text box, right click and select Format Shape > Shadow and check that all the sliders at are the far left position to indicate no shadow affect.
I recreated the caption and added the text again. You still need to highlight the text and switch the 'S' shadow option on the ribbon on and off, even if it looks off in the ribbon, still do it.
To the best of my knowledge, no, the default can't be set to have the shadow on the text, but you may find the thread Emily provided above on Shadow Text Defaults useful. You may also feel free to submit a feature request, as well!

I use SL2 and I can not remove the font shadow. Please see attachment.
Thanks

Hello Mandy!
Just wanted to link this other thread about using the format painter to copy text into a caption without the shadow.
Can the default be set not to have the shadow on the text?
Hi, Johnnie Mae -
