I have a long video that I need to confirm that the learner watches the entire length. Ideally, I'd like the following capabilities:
Prevent learner from skipping forward through video. I want to ensure the entire video plays.
Allow rewind if they miss some and want to skip back.
Allow resume if they want to watch across multiple attempts.
Basically, I'd like the single video to be just as functional as overall navigation setup where you can allow the learner to navigate freely within what they have already viewed, but NOT skip forward.
I have considered breaking up the video into segments, but VERY MUCH prefer to keep it as a single video file.
Not sure if you are using custom navigation controls on the video or you've added the default SL controls but perhaps for the first pass through you could place a transparent rectangle (Fill with 100% transparency not NO FILL) over the video/controls so they can't skip it, then change the state of the rectangle to hidden when media completes.
I've added a transparent rectangle to prevent users from fast forwarding which works well. How do you allow the end user resume if they want to watch across multiple attempts?
You could set the transparent shape to change it's state to hidden when the media completes? Or based on reaching a particular point in the slide timeline.
Fast forwarding isn't my issue, the transparent box over the video timeline is a great fix. My issue is allowing the user to resume watching a video after they've exited the course.
Sorry Amber, it sounded like you had already solved your issue. I was addressing Jeffrey's question about preventing fast forwarding while still allowing rewinding.

Hi Amber,

Ah, thanks for clarifying Amber - I see where you've reached out and some other users are helping you out here as well with your design.
Jeffrey, this could most likely be accomplished by embedding the video from a streaming service such as Vimeo. Is that an option for you?
No we have external restrictions. I can't use an external site, it has to be embedded into the course.
